Youth Sports Instructor Salary $15.00 - $17.50 Hourly Location Lion's Park & Malone Park New Berlin, WI Job Type Seasonal Department Recreation Job Number 201300507 Closing Continuous DESCRIPTION BENEFITS General Overview of the Position Under the supervision of the Youth Sports Specialist, the Youth Sports Instructor is responsible for the instruction and supervision of participants in the program. The instructor will engage young athletes through demonstrations and teach a variety of youth sports including football, T-ball, basketball, soccer, etc… See below for time specifics (Times and dates are subject to change to accommodate instructor availability): These programs will run Monday - Thursday 4:30pm - 6:30pm Locations: New Berlin Community Center/Lions Park: 14750 W Cleveland Ave, New Berlin, WI 53151 Malone Park: 16400 W Al Stigler Pkwy, New Berlin, WI 53151 Examples of Essential Duties Responsible for class set-up and clean-up of program areas. Responsible for instructing youth sports program or sports league. Creates a class itinerary to engage and develop participant skill. Ensures a safe playing environment for participants. Observes, enforces and explains all facility rules and regulations. Answer parents questions/concerns before and after the program. Report problems or needs to management. Report to work at least 15 minutes prior to class and stay until all participants have left. Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of all facility procedures. Communicate equipment and/or supply needs with management. All other duties as may be assigned. Minimum Qualifications Possess an interest in working with/instructing toddlers and young children. Must have knowledge and ability to organize and teach the fundamentals of a variety of sports. Ability to keep simple records and reports, and work from oral and written directions. Possess a broad knowledge of sports. Previous instructing, coaching and/or competitive playing preferred. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully with participants, parents, staff, city officials and the public. Ability to present a positive image of the department and the City.
