National Ave, WI Job Type Part-time Department Recreation Job Number 201300478 Closing Continuous DESCRIPTION BENEFITS General Overview of the Position Under the direction of the New Berlin Recreation Department and the Senior Coordinator, responsible for leading a group of participants aged 55+ through a series of movements and adapted exercises set to music while inspiring and motivating them to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Examples of Essential Duties Works under the direction of the Recreation Department and Seniors’ Coordinator Plans, coordinates, promotes, and facilitates a weekly Senior Fitness class accompanied by appropriate music for the participants Ensures the safety of class participants by adhering to Departmental policies and procedures Maintains class records in regards to attendance, accidents, and incident reports Provides on-site leadership on the actual class dates Works in coordination with the Recreation Department to establish a budget sheet and proposed expenditure document Assists with the set-up and clean-up of the activity room and any other spaces that will be utilized to facilitate activities Positively communicates with the participants and encourages them to improve their health and fitness related behaviors Maintains consistent and courteous communication with Supervisors within the Recreation Department Duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: High School Diploma Must be at least 21 years of age or older Must have previous experience instructing group exercise and fitness/wellness programs Prefer previous experience leading fitness/wellness programs with participants aged 55+ Available to work fluctuating hours and specifically the dates/times agreed upon with the Recreation Department and Senior Coordinator Ability to make well-informed decisions in time-sensitive situations Knowledge of appropriate teaching techniques Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors within the Recreation Department and Senior Club Physical Requirements: Task involves light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Environmental Requirements: This position is subject to indoor environmental conditions. Sensory Requirements: This task requires close visual acuity to perform various activities. The task requires oral communications ability. The task requires sound perception and discrimination.
